1 How often are live scores updated on Score9ja?
The Live Matches page checks for fresh in-play data on a short live cadence and also performs a signed browser refresh roughly every 90 seconds. The provider-reported match status remains the source of truth, so Score9ja does not keep an old match marked live after a successful provider response says there are no live fixtures.
2 Why can Today's Fixtures show many matches while Live Matches shows fewer?
Today's Fixtures contains the full current-day schedule: not-started, live, finished and supported postponed fixtures. Live Matches is intentionally narrower and accepts only fixtures whose current provider status is plausibly in play. A match being scheduled today does not mean it belongs on the live page.
3 What information should I expect inside a Match Centre?
A Match Centre is built around one resolved fixture and can expose the score, match status, competition context, events, team statistics, head-to-head history and lineups. Those detail tabs are provider-backed: Score9ja displays the data when coverage exists and shows an explicit unavailable state when the competition does not supply that resource.
4 Why are events, statistics or lineups sometimes unavailable?
Coverage is not identical across every league, youth competition, women's competition or lower division. Some fixtures receive scores but no event feed; others may have team statistics but no confirmed lineups. Score9ja does not manufacture missing events, possession, shots, player ratings or starting XIs to fill an empty tab.
5 Can a Match Centre link still work if the fixture is not stored as a permanent database row?
Yes. Recent match URLs can resolve through Score9ja's bounded match-route index and exact-date fixture caches before any provider recovery is needed. This allows live, upcoming and recently completed fixtures to open in Match Centre without forcing every transient fixture into the permanent MySQL entity database.
6 How does Score9ja decide which matches belong on Today's Fixtures?
The page is keyed to one exact football date in the configured sports timezone, then every returned fixture is validated against that local date again. This prevents tomorrow's or yesterday's matches from leaking into today simply because the provider timestamp is stored in UTC or another offset.
7 How is the Tomorrow Matches page different from a generic upcoming-fixtures list?
Tomorrow Matches requests the exact next sports-calendar day rather than taking the next 50 or 100 fixtures globally. It uses the configured timezone, accepts scheduled future states, and revalidates the date after normalization. This is why a match two days away should not appear merely because it is one of the provider's next fixtures.
8 Why can the number of matches for a date change during the day?
Football schedules are not static. Providers can add late fixtures, correct kickoff times, change a match to postponed or cancelled, or update a competition assignment. Score9ja refreshes current matchday data more aggressively than historical data, so the displayed total can legitimately change as the provider corrects the schedule.
9 Are finished results mixed with fixtures from unrelated competitions?
League and competition result pages are scoped by the exact provider competition ID and selected season before the results are rendered. Team participation alone is not enough to include a match. For example, a La Liga club's Champions League or Copa del Rey match should not enter the La Liga Results page.
10 How does Score9ja identify a league or competition reliably?
The human-readable URL is not the data identity. Score9ja resolves the route to the provider's competition ID, country context and selected season, then uses that scope for fixtures, results, standings, teams and player leaderboards. This avoids collisions where different countries have competitions with similar names.
11 What happens when I switch the season on a league page?
The selected season becomes part of the data scope and cache identity. Standings, fixtures, results, teams and supported player statistics are requested or recovered for that competition-season combination instead of silently mixing another season into the page.
12 Why do some competition pages have a table while others do not?
The available child views depend on the competition format and provider coverage. A league can expose a conventional standings table, while a knockout cup may have no meaningful league table. Score9ja avoids inventing a table or thin page simply because a navigation pattern exists elsewhere.
13 How are Top Scorers and Top Assists rankings scoped?
Ranking rows are validated against the exact competition ID and selected season. Score9ja derives presentation metrics such as goals per 90 or contribution shares only from the returned player statistics; it does not pull a global scorer into a league ranking because the player happens to play for a club in that league.
14 Does a team get a new identity when it is promoted, relegated or changes competitions?
No. A team is a durable entity tied to its provider team identity, while competition membership is season-dependent. That separation lets one club keep a stable team page even as its league participation changes from one season to the next.
15 How should I interpret player statistics shown on Score9ja?
Player statistics are contextual rather than universal. A player can have different numbers for different teams, competitions and seasons, so Score9ja keeps the player identity stable while scoping the statistical record to the relevant season and competition whenever that context is available.
16 Why can a player or team page have less information than a major-club page?
Provider depth varies by competition. Major leagues often have richer player, lineup, injury and statistic coverage than youth or lower-tier competitions. Score9ja prefers a smaller accurate profile over filling missing sections with guessed biographies, fabricated statistics or unrelated season data.
17 Are Score9ja football predictions guaranteed outcomes?
No. Prediction probabilities and likely-score outputs are estimates derived from available match information or provider-backed prediction data. They are research signals, not guarantees, and should not be interpreted as certainty about a future result.
18 Why does a prediction matchup use one permanent team-pair URL?
Score9ja treats the two clubs as one permanent unordered matchup identity for prediction and matchup indexing. Reversing home and away for a future fixture does not create a second competing canonical page. Fixture IDs can still identify a specific event internally without becoming the permanent SEO identity.
19 How does the Odds page determine the “best” price?
When multiple configured providers return the same supported market and outcome, Score9ja compares their valid decimal prices and highlights the highest available value in that response. It does not invent a bookmaker or price when the provider feed does not contain one.
20 Do Decimal, Fractional and American odds require separate data requests?
No. When a valid decimal price is already available, Fractional and American formats can be calculated from that same price in the presentation layer. Switching display format therefore does not need another provider request just to show the same underlying odds differently.
21 Why might prediction or odds information be missing for a match?
Not every competition or fixture has provider-backed predictions, bookmaker coverage or every market. Score9ja can render the match itself while leaving unsupported prediction or odds fields unavailable. Missing commercial data is not replaced with mock percentages or sample prices.
22 Where does Score9ja get its football data and how is freshness handled?
The sports engine normalizes data from its configured football provider, then applies different cache lifetimes according to how quickly each resource changes. Live matches use short refresh windows, while standings, player rankings and historical data can be cached longer to reduce unnecessary upstream requests.
23 What happens if the football provider is temporarily unavailable?
Score9ja can reuse bounded stale or last-known-good provider data where that is safer than showing a false empty page. Critical current-date routes also have tightly scoped recovery paths. The system still preserves global quota, request-lock and rate protections instead of disabling API safeguards site-wide.
24 Does Score9ja store every API response in the WordPress database?
No. MySQL is primarily used for durable entities and stable identity relationships. Sports response caching is designed around bounded file/object-cache storage, with hard file-count and size ceilings, so transient fixture payloads do not continuously inflate wp_options or the main entity tables.
25 Can cached information ever differ briefly between two Score9ja pages?
Yes, because different resources refresh at different cadences and a page cache can briefly lag a fresher data cache. Score9ja reduces this by sharing exact-date cache identities between the homepage and dedicated Today fixtures flow, and by using browser-side refresh on the Live Matches experience.
26 Do I need an account to use Score9ja's public football pages?
No account is required to browse the public match, league, team, player, prediction, odds and news pages. If Score9ja introduces account-only features later, those features should be identified separately rather than restricting the core football information experience.
27 How can I report a score, fixture or content issue?
Use the Contact Us page and include the exact Score9ja URL, the competition or teams involved, and what appears incorrect. For live-data issues, mentioning the approximate time you observed the problem helps distinguish a provider correction from a stale-cache or route-resolution problem.
