Our standards

Editorial principles

These principles govern both editorial stories and the way Score9ja presents provider-backed football information.

Accuracy first

Scores, fixtures, tables and statistical claims should reflect the best verified source available. We do not fill missing sports data with invented values.

Fair and contextual

We separate verified facts from analysis, prediction and opinion, and we avoid presenting estimates as settled outcomes.

Transparent sourcing

Data-led pages are provider-backed; editorial stories should rely on attributable, authoritative or otherwise verifiable information wherever possible.

Verification before publication

Names, dates, competitions, scorelines and material claims are checked for internal consistency before publication or meaningful revision.

Corrections and updates

When reliable new information changes a material fact, we update the page and correct the record rather than preserving an outdated claim.

No deceptive presentation

We do not create fake quotes, fabricated statistics, fictional bookmaker prices or unsupported Match Centre events to make a page appear complete.

How we work

From source to published page.

Live-data pages and editorial stories use different source types, but the same underlying rule applies: the information shown should be traceable, properly scoped and clearly described.

01

Source

Identify the appropriate source: provider data for sports feeds; primary or reputable authoritative material for editorial reporting.

02

Verify

Check identity, competition, season, date, team/player context and any material claim that could change the meaning of the story or data page.

03

Publish clearly

Distinguish live data, confirmed facts, analysis, forecasts and unavailable fields so readers can understand what they are seeing.

04

Monitor and correct

Current football data can change. We refresh time-sensitive pages and correct editorial content when stronger information becomes available.

What this policy covers

Different content types, one accountability standard.

Each product area has different data limits. We describe those limits instead of pretending every competition has the same depth.

Live scores & fixtures

Exact-date schedules, match status, scorelines and Match Centre access.

Leagues & competitions

Competition-ID and season-scoped tables, results, teams and player leaders.

Teams & players

Stable entity pages with competition- and season-aware statistics where supported.

Predictions & odds

Forecasts are estimates; odds are provider prices that can move and are not guarantees.

News & explainers

Original summaries, analysis and guides written to add useful context rather than merely repeat headlines.

Data, analysis and opinion

Readers should be able to tell the difference.

FACT

Provider-backed sports data

Scores, schedules, standings and supported match statistics are presented as factual data subject to provider corrections and coverage limits.

ANALYSIS

Editorial interpretation

Tactical explanation, context and comparison should be supported by observable information and clearly written as analysis rather than raw match data.

FORECAST

Predictions and likely outcomes

Forecasts are estimates. They should never be written as guaranteed results, and unavailable probabilities should not be replaced with invented numbers.

Corrections & accountability

If something is wrong, we want to know.

For a data issue, send the exact page URL, competition or teams involved, and what appears incorrect. For an editorial issue, identify the statement and the evidence supporting the correction. This helps us distinguish a provider update from a publishing error.

Where does Score9ja get live scores and football statistics?+

Score9ja’s programmatic sports pages are powered by the configured football data provider and normalized by the Score9ja Core engine. The site applies exact-date, competition-ID, season and team/player checks according to the page being rendered. Provider coverage is not identical for every competition, so some events, lineups or advanced statistics can legitimately be unavailable.

How do you handle breaking football news and transfer reports?+

Breaking stories are treated according to the strength of the underlying information. Confirmed club, league, federation or other authoritative announcements should be presented as confirmed. Reports that remain developing should not be rewritten as certainty. We avoid inventing quotes, fees, contract terms or medical details that are not supported by reliable information.

How are predictions and odds handled editorially?+

Predictions are estimates, not promises. Probability, likely-score and confidence information must be described as forecasts based on available data. Odds are time-sensitive provider prices; Score9ja may compare valid prices for the same market, but a displayed price does not guarantee availability or an outcome. We do not fabricate missing odds or prediction percentages.

What happens if Score9ja publishes an error?+

Material factual errors should be corrected as soon as they are verified. For data-led pages, a provider correction or refreshed feed can update the displayed value automatically. For editorial content, the page should be amended when the correction changes a meaningful fact. Readers can report a suspected error through the Contact page or the Corrections Policy.

Does Score9ja use automation or AI in its publishing workflow?+

Automation can assist with structured sports-data rendering, formatting, routing, caching and other production workflows. Those systems must not be used as a reason to invent facts, quotes, scores, statistics, lineups or sourcing. Editorial responsibility remains with Score9ja, and content should be reviewed and corrected when reliable evidence shows it is wrong.

How do you keep commercial interests separate from football information?+

Core match facts—scores, fixtures, tables, teams and provider-backed statistics—should not be changed to favor a commercial outcome. Where odds or commercial information is shown, it should be clearly distinguishable from match facts and should not be presented as a guarantee. Editorial judgment should remain based on relevance, accuracy and reader value.

Our promise

Useful football information without invented certainty.

Accuracy, clarity and correction matter more than making every page look artificially complete.
